AIR TRAVEL: If you don’t have a good travel agent, get one – if only to compare prices. A good agent can also resolve most any issues you might encounter faster than you can. The discount companies that you see on TV or in the paper may not offer the best price. Often I have on my own obtained a better price than any of discount companies were offering. I do have one recommendation that even the travel agents here in the LA area are not too familiar with: T.A.C.A. Airlines, www.TACA.com. They have been in the business for a long time, their safety record is tops, and their service is good. Their hub and headquarters are in San Salvador. If they don’t serve your area (US), my recommendation would be to get to Miami or LA with a US carrier. Make sure you give yourself a 5 – 10 hour window or stay a day in either city and go with TACA. Obviously there are seasonal fluctuations and many holidays to the country of your destination. You need to check. One example is Easter. Almost everything shuts down for 4 days in both countries. And obviously, the closer to Christmas the more people want to be with their families. Home can be in either direction.
